About Relentless

Relentless is a podcast about the pursuit of farfetched ideas and unusual aspirations. In other words: tenacity. How do people set their sights on a hard-to-reach goal?  In what ways do they change course once they get started? What keeps them going? What is more satisfying, the pursuit or the result?

In Season One, Relentless investigates fandom and specifically devotees of one New York City skateboard and clothing brand, Supreme. Episodes include interviews with a range of people -- New Yorkers, tourists, parents with children, teenagers, older longtime fans -- talking about a variety of motivations for their dedication.

Relentless is a project of independent radio producer Maddy Russell-Shapiro. A graduate of Yale University and the Transom radio workshop, Maddy is based in New York City and San Francisco. Future work on the theme of tenacity will include skateboarding, being the first in a family to attend college, and establishing a career after serving time in prison.

All music for Relentless is produced by students at Building Beats, a DJ and music program that teaches entrepreneurship, leadership, and life skills to youth in New York City.
